Question Do dumbo rats have different fur to 'normal' rats

We picked up two dumbo rats and cage up today from Freecycle (paid £20 for the cage but the rats were free). The two rats are still only little uns (4 months old).

I've had 10 'normal' rats in the past and I used to work with a lot too but never got my hands on any dumbo's. These seem to have a different type/texture to their fur. Its a lot thicker and curlier than normal, its kinda in between normal and rex, just wondered if dumbo rats were just different or if these may have some added genes along the line some where altering their fur?

So think we either have a pair of odd normals or duff rex Either way they are super friendly and a really nice addition. Just gotta teach the little un not to keep poking her fingers through the now

What colour are they? Russian blue rats have slightly different fur to regular rats.
