Default Natural planted vivarium for hognose. How?

Hi

I have an old 3 foot viv that I want to house my male hognose in (he is outgrowing his plastic faunarium).

I like the idea of having a planted viv with grasses, branches and a natural substrate for him to burrow in but having never done it before it all seems a bit tricky!

So I know I need to line the bottom and seal the viv (pondliner etc) can the substrate go straight on that or do I need a drainage layer?

Secondly I'd need a LED light for the plants like a jungle dawn but I have no idea where this goes in the viv - Does it run along the top like a standard uv bulb and where does it sit in relation to the uv light?

Any advice please?

I'd be interested to know if anyone has successfully done a planted viv or whether its too much effort and cost
