Default What tortoise is he

Only just got him 17yrs old any advice I would be ever so grateful
He is settling in his new place we just wanna make him feel at home an do right for him

im so addicted to reptiles i find there company better than humans

Looks like an ibera to me:0)
This tortoise needs heat on cold days, to warm up so he/she can eat.
Diet is weeds, www.tortoises.net for a great list of suitable plants for him/her. And outside once warmed up.
The above site will also give you good advice on how to keep etc. Linda King is a really informed keeper who has done a lot of research in the wild on these tortoises:0)

Ok nice to know thank you he has a heat lamp and does like to be in his play pen tortoise safe

I looked but my tortoises has no shell above his tail end🤔

Can you show a pc of this. Might just be the photo, but it looks as though he’s been oiled at some time. This can cause shell rot. He needs a full time outdoor enclosure with basking heat to thrive. Hopefully you can set this up for him. This is how I keep mine www.tortsmad.com

If you look at the shell buy his bum it kinda looks like a gap but the shell goes downwards it's just different to ones I've seen im still searching 🤔
