Talking Thrasops jacksoni

Okay, here he is, my infamous male Thrasops jacksoni, the little sod that taught me respect for opisthoglyphous snakes...

He looks so sweet and innocent there...
Although in the flesh they have quite a menacing air about them (well, your new male did when he was eyeing me up!)

Very very impressive and attractive.
I love the small dots around the eye.

awesome species this.

Are yours just nuts around food or nuts most of the time?

Nuts ALL THE TIME. Although to be fair that's because they are always hungry. They are not aggressive as such, I think they just like to know what everything tastes like...

BTW I've just noticed that I wrote they are opisthoglyphous snakes in the above post. It was late and that was a mistake, they are actually aglyphous. They don't possess a venom delivery system, just toxic saliva which they chew into a wound.

I was under the impression they did have small rear fangs even though what little literature there is about this species says exactly what you just said.

Have you ever had a poke about in there to see?

There ARE certainly some enlarged teeth back there (I've had the punctures to prove it) but I think that they are not grooved...? From what I've heard they have no venom delivery system to speak of.
