Default Snake Heater Help ( Probably the 1000th heater question today)

Probably Shouldnt be here... Okay i am very confused, i am reading up on this forum and it seems most people reccomend ceramic heaters on a thermostat. Okay heres my confusion( my local rep shop told me to always have a heat mat on, at all times + to use a hot lamp during the day, now i dnt really use the lamp cos i reckon my snake will grill.) If i use a ceramic heater is that all i need... and does it stay on all night.??? Or do i need a heatmat to warm substrate aswell.

Also what ceramics are best... i know AHS are supposedly the dogs but what size is relative to each viv. I am guessin a 500w for a 6ft viv but what about 4ft viv and 2ft viv???

Thank You Muchos

I am quickly learning that everything my pet shop told me is just the same advice as they give to everyone for every type of snake... Heatmat nd a lamp nd ur laughing. Not such good advice... i reckon pet shop people shud go on a course or atleast have a certain amount of experience.

Hi there,

This is from the microclimate website, the makers of AHS. If you scroll down the page just a little bit, on the left hand side there is a little guide which give a recommendation for which wattage you would need for which viv size...

Hope it helps...
