Default Heat lamp in wooden viv

I've got a 3ft cornsnake in a wooden Viv but as my rooms really cold he's constantly staying under the mat to the point he's slightly burning himself. I want to put a lamp in there but I don't know what I need and how to fit it. Can anyone help??

I'd suggest grabbing a ceramic bulb for your viv. You'll need a pulse proportional stat for it. And a heat guard with a ceramic bulb holder.
It will cost a few quid but it's important to get your heating right and in the long term this will be a good option.

For lighting some led strips can cover you well. Just be careful they are stuck on well possibly with a little aquarium silicon so your little guy can't get stuck onto them. Hope that helps.

I agree - I'd go for a ceramic bulb. Plus the ceramic bulb holder, guard and thermostat. I have a 60W ceramic in a 3ft viv which is ideal and has been running for years without needing to be replaced.

If space is a premium, get a 150w trough ceramic heater and reflector. This still leaves you lots of space below the heater as they don't hang down as much.

The total cost will come to around £30 from Chris Martin ([email protected])

You will need to get a pulse proportional thermostat - do not try and run one from a normal on/off stat
