Default corn snake feeding advice please

hi,

i currently have a carolina corn snake, i was advised to give him fluffs after he was taking a rat pup plus a pinkie on top, however he struggled with the fluff, how can i regulate his feeding because he gets hungry about every 5 days. When i spoke to a pet shop recently they told me not to give him rat pups because of the different taste, but he likes mice still, how many pinkies for him/she that is nearly 2ft long.

how can i sex him/her without a probe?

Age and weight will be more relevant for feeding advice rather than length. As far as sexing goes the only way to be fairly sure imo is probing.

You can sex them without probing by popping them, highly unadvised if your not experienced though mate as you can seriously damage the snake this way. As for the feeding thing i would say around 4/5 pinkies, but i mean i'm not expert on corns, only ever had one and that was a long time ago. Weight would be good though for feeding suggestions as not really good just length, how old is it by the way?

That is bad advice IMO.

I like my snakes to eat as wide a variety of food as possible. My adults now eat practically anything I give them... a variety of tastes is a good thing.

I would try with rat pinkies if I were you. They are the same size as a mouse fuzzy but squishy like a mouse pinkie... so the snake should have no trouble in handling it.

I'll be honest, I am a bit confused over what you are feeding him, going by your original post.

My 6 month old corns are all on either two pinkies or one small fuzzy every 5-6 days.

It is fine to feed a young corn every 5-6 days, and go for an item 1- 1 1/2 times his width.

Default hi ratboy

dexter was feeding on pinkies, but were not filling him up so i tried rat pups which was still not filling hin up as was hungry on day 5. So i tried rat pup + pinkie still grumpy after day 5, so i tried a fluff but he struggled with it and got stuck on the front legs but took it after a while. a pet shop told me dex should not be having fluffs, what else can i try

I don't feed my corns rats, so I am not sure on rats TBH.

How often are you feeding him and was it a mouse or rat fluff you tried?

It does take quite a while for them to eat a correct sized food item, it shouldn't just go own.

Ay pic sof him? It will help to answer, and be nice to see him any how!

Did the pet shop say why they thought he shouldn't have fluffs?

If he can take it, and doesn't bring it back up (which he obviously hasn't) would give him a mouse fluff every 6 days. (rather than 5 to give him plenty of time to digest)
