I'm going to try scenting to get my royal to eat, is it as simple as just rubbing the chick over the rat? i asked at the pet store but they were unsure.
Put both of them in a plastic bag while they are defrosting, and leave for a good few hours. The chick scent should infuse with the rat and make it a bit more appealing... easy as that!

she has not eaten since mid jan now, has lost about 5-10 grams, but has grown in length quite a bit. I have tried different sizes of pray, a actual chick which she did take (that was in march i think) and braining the rat.
My royal strike fed ten days after i got him (Easter BH i think) but has refused since .... i thought it was braining but i have a sneaky feeling it was the car journey so im taking him for a spin this week and then offering food at the weekend. Fingers crossed.
Good luck.
