for the substrate in my royals enclosure?, every time i check on him hes moved it all out the way sitting on the plastic bottem, will this cause any problems? (e.g burns), im using reptile hemp bedding.
Thats why I use paper in with my royals, they really dont seem to have a preference for any substrate. As for causing issues as long as the heatmat is outside the tub then wont cause problems.
i keep mine on beech chippings and he always makes a circle of bare wood under his favourite hide to lay on but hes always happy like that. what do you mean burns i assume you have a heat mat? i use a caged infared bulb so i couldnt say. in depends how thick a layer of substrate you put down. if its a thick layer and your getting the correct temp on the surface then there is a risk of burns. anyway hope this helps: victory:
yeah it seems like common behavior for royals there really fussy about certain things like that. like i say mine has always been the same even when i kept him on a mat rather than a bulb. never had any probs whatsoever.
If he's feeding keep everything as it is, I removed the substrate from my last royal and she stopped eating, returned it and she started eating again!
If it's not broke, don't fix it!! ;-)
