Default burm prices going crazy!!!!!!!

over the last few months iv seen a change in the prices that burms and other large snakes are going for. IMO its a recipe for a disater. anyone can afford them now and that only leads to many being dumped because some idiots have made them easy and very affordable to purcase. last year an albino green would have cost around 300-350 which i think is a reasonable price. NOW theres albino greens for 150!!! any numpty can afford that!!!

so people, do you think its down to the breeder to price them accordingly so not any tom dick or harry can afford them for their first snake??? the DWA is constantly hanging over burms due to the stupidity of some owners and if they become so cheap its only a matter of time before somthing happens. i understand that times are hard at the moment but a bit of common sense shows what damage cheap burms will cause in the future.

sorry peeps, im off my soap box now.

Supply and demand - At the end of the day, if your burm has babies and you have 15 babies to get rid of and you are struggling to sell, your gunna put the price down. Plus, because it was such a high price tag, people think "ill have a pop at that, £3k a litter of babies, easy money" so more and more people are breeding, burms arnt like royals not as easy to keep 10 of them, so dont sell as often! /ramble

i dunno, they're still expensive in shops, ther's an albino burm in my local shop for 350euro (£315) and they had a rock python for 145(£125), in another petshop normals are 220(200) and albinos 300(£270), there was 2 burms, one normal, one albino for 150(£135) and 250(£225) an anaconda for 50(£45) and an african rock for 50(£45), and i got my albino girl for 120(£105) privatley.

Won't be long before the Retic market follows suit.

i know what your saying but i think that theres too many breeders willing to sell to just anyone and lowering the price is normal i know that but shouldnt they think about the consiquences? theres alot of burms dumped at rescues all the time. i bet that the number doubles in the next 12 months

Deffo, it kinda worries me... I dont own a burm or a tic, maybe in the future, just not yet! But there seems to be alot of them, readly available which is not cool for something that can get HUGE! BUT saying that, if you breed and cant sell them, what you gunna do? Cant keep them all

So people who have less money are less responsible? Breeders should try and sell to responsible people, money is not an issue.
