Bulb guard.

Yes, your boa can break the bulb - and if your boa is around the bulb when it goes on in the morning... it will get burned.

Once the guard's on you shouldn't have any problems.

One of mine is so strong he not only wrecks his guard but has also wrecked the entire fitting and that was with a guard stapled with an industrial stapler...he just likes to wreck his enclosure so now I have a lamp which is pointed into his viv as it is soooo much safer for him

I had a blind rosy boa who managed to get himself into his bulb guard when the light was off... and died when the light went back on.

That's what I'd be concerned about - a boa who's doing it before lights-on if your light is on a timer and will come on automatically.

Hi all,

A Royay Python can constrict with a pressure of up to 9lbs psi it will crush a light bulb like paper, if it decides too.

Simple thing buy a guard.

Get a decent solid guard rather than those crappy thin mesh types!

I don't mean to be rude here but this going to come across as so,

you fool
!

If you didn't think that she could crush the bulb you wouldn't be asking if she could, a lot of these people are very experienced keepers and are telling you that the answer is yes, a boa can crush a light bulb. Never seen this done with a human hand? You-tube it i'm sure it will be there, i've done it myself by accident screwing one in, and a boa that weighs in at 2kg will most definately have more crushing power than a human hand, in case you didn't realise.......it's kinda what snakes are built for ya know.......crushing stuff, did this fact not cross your mind?

Get a light guard on that bulb asap!!!
Here is a link of where you can get them from online along with many other places online and most likely in your local reptile shop.

He already said hes putting a guard on so I dont know why people are still feeling the need to say this...especially those who have to respond so rudely and aggressively - ie " By all means, do it your way and when the post comes up on here titles Please help my boa has glass in it and burns then i'm sure these people will jump up to help you". "His way" is to buy a guard, so this is totally unnecessary. :/
