Default Snakes that don't need extra heat?

My son asked me last night if there are any species of snake that don't need a heat source in our home environments and although I suspect there are a couple (viperines? russian rats?) I thought I would see what info I could find out so I look very clever when I answer lol.

Well I'm sure they'll be some big debate on this but even native snakes like natrix sp should have additional heat as all snakes bask somewhat to heat up? Whether any ambients need to be supported is more relevant.

Yeah I should say that this wasn't an ask in order to do, if that makes sense. My son asked if there were any that don't need extra heat and I didn't know how to answer that's all lol. I think it came out of him looking up russian rats.

well technically theres no evidence of that, snakes have been kept with a suitable ambient temp within their ranges succesfully without a ''basking'' spot or ''cool'' end.

and yes garters i forgot about them lol

Actually, if the room the snake is kept in is maintained at a constant temp how is a gradient achieved in their set up?
