just a quick one i have a four foot viv was wanting to change to a ceramic bulb the question is what watt size bulb is best to get the right temp ??? :whistling2:
I would put a 150 watt in should be more than enough i have 60/75s in my 2ft vivs am going to try 150s in my 5ft vivs when i finish making them and see how it goes
a 150 will be fine, its always better to go higher than lower, so then your ceramic wont struggle to get to the right temps, and as long as your running on a stat (which is a must) then the stat will deal with it.
I'd just put a 250w in and be done with it. As long as its connected to a pulse it will be working less hard than a 150w to achieve the temp and therefore use less electric in the long run :no1:
Bit off topic, but does this really work? I thought that the amount of power given out by a bulb connected to a stat should be the same regardless of the wattage rating of the bulb (as long as the rating is higher than what the stat needs of course).
If it does it could well save a bit of money, although I am a little skeptical...
what temps do you have it at i have royals so mine needs to be between high 88/90 c but thats were me asking came in abt wattage is yours on a pulse stat ???:whistling2:
i have one of my royals in a 4x2x2 viv and i had to put a 250w ceramic in. the 150w struggled to get it up to temp but this could be because we don't have central heating so our house is cold in the winter
And yet more evidence that caresheets only deal with the average. If yours feed at that temp mate then who am I to knock it ? Mine feed higher. Each to their own. There really is no right answer is there?
