![]() Just saw a thread with a sensible fellow wearing gloves whilst handling a scrub python. My question is if you tame a snake whilst wearing gloves do they react differenty when you take the gloves off because of the new texture and heat signature generated?. It would be great to hear from people who are firm believers in gloves and have then removed them after taming has taken place, as opposed to the thread turning into a gloved and non gloved debate
Kindest regards catch and release Last edited by catch and release; 30-09-2011 at 04:40 PM.. Reason: to focus the debate |

![]() I don't handle my snakes much but since the MBK turned into a bit of a bitey monster, I have used gloves most of the time I have handled him. On a few occasions he still bit me while I had the gloves on.
The last few times I have handled him I didn't wear the gloves and he has been fine. I had him out today for 15 mins or so while I took some photos and he didn't try to bite me once. I don't know if wearing the gloves has made any difference and I'm pretty sure he will bite me again at some point but until then I'm happy to not use the gloves. |

![]() You can't tame a snake. Period. You can get it used (or sick of defending itself?) to handling, but it's a snake at the end of the day. I'm pretty much 99% confident that snakes don't actually like being handled.
But I do have a welders glove (I don't actually use it much, apart from when moving my GTP's). You should always have your wits about you when handling any reptile. It's a good tool as far as I'm concerned. Too many times I have heard, 'oh it's fine. No, really it's tame'. Then Boom! Curtains! Yes love, as you where saying. Carry on. Not much help was I. LoL!

![]() Its better for us for a snake to bite on a glove than our bare hands. I made a post about wearing gloves, and someone were saying don't be a wimp. I'd rather enjoy a snake who doesn't bite rather than it does, so wearing gloves sometimes is common sense to me
![]() I gave a guy a like for his reply, saying he'd save his sadochasomistic activities for the bedroom as it made me laugh ![]() |
