A question about double thermostats I have been wondering about.

Some companies make double thermostats (two thermostats capable of different temperatures in one housing). My question is are these distinct units in as much as they operate as totally stand alone thermostats, or do they use shared components so if anything failed both stats would be affected. Does anyone know the answer for certain?.

Kindest regards

just had a quick look on habistat website. they have two separate sensors and stats, so if something went wrong with either of these, just one would be affected. they share the same power from the mains (obv) so that would stop the whole thing. they are pretty simple really so would be a simple fix (im an instrument mech ;))
