Default About 30 new snake genera named

Dear all, in accordance with the Zoological Code, I announce the recent publications of four issues of AJH issues 9-12 which combined have descriptions of about 30 new genera of snakes arising from a global audit of the advanced snakes.
All are backed by DNA evidence (M and N),
Issues can be downloaded from
Australasian Journal of Herpetology
Included in the name changes are familiar taxa.
All the best

Do you know that this is the work of Raymond Hoser and as such is largely toxic nonsense that is causing taxonomic mayhem?

The journal is not accepted in the scientific community and given that Mr Hoser is the only contributor it should be considered more a blog of fabricated ramblings than anything of substance.

The naming of 30 new genera within a single order would indeed be pretty big news - and I'll accept it if it is either a) backed up by a taxonomist held in good esteem by the science world (or at least not widely castigated by it) or b) if Hoser gets this published in any journal that he does not publish himself.

EDIT: You're not the man himself by any chance are you?!

Where are they backed by DNA evidence? I didn't see a scrap of DNA evidence, just the bitter ramblings of a mad man that has recently lost his commercial wildlife demonstrator license on animal welfare and health and safety grounds.

Default DNA Evidence

David, you wrote,

"Where are they backed by DNA evidence? I didn't see a scrap of DNA evidence"

Well David, you seem to busy hurling false and defamatory insults rather than reading the papers.

So I shall spell out where the DNA results are ....

They are cited in each and every paper!!!! - Pity you didn't actually read them!

For most groups of snakes named it comes from several sources, ...

By way of example, no less than three lots of DNA with similar results each time for the rattlesnakes.

I posted the material from Pyron et al (2011) on other forums already, (including rattlesnakes on facebook) and another set of data there as well.

Check it out there. I was unable to post on this forum the images of data (I couldn't work out how to do it - sorry).

Now with the DNA backing up what I did taxonomically, the case is effectively closed.

BUT, I have no legal authority to make you David use these names, just as I can't force you to call retics Broghammerus, but if you call something by the wrong name, it's you that looks like a goose, not me.

All the best
