Default What's the heaviest corn hatchling......

...... you've ever hatched? I only ask as I had one pop out this morning that was so chunky I weighed it and it's 10g.

I don't usually weigh them at hatching but those I have, have usually been around 6-8g and we know there have been some tiny ones but I thought it might be interesting to find the heaviest.

This is Trilby's offspring born this morning at 10g

Bless he's a right little chub I'd have liked to weigh ours as some were considerably bigger than others but didn't have any scales at the time.

A few years ago I bought a corn that was only a week old and unfed, she was really long (13") but even she only weighed 8g so this one is a porker.

My hatchies average 8-10 grams. I have had the odd tiny 6gram hatchling and a couple of big ole 12 gram hatchlings I breed from large older parents though, never immature or animals I think are too young. I think that makes for nice big babies

Maybe that's the reason for this one as mum is 6 and dad is 10, plus I incubated at slightly lower temps so they've been in the egg longer.
