Shaun my diamond is obviously in his winter cooling period, but he still seems very active. Is this normal? He also seems to be losing his yellow!

Yes mate, it is completely normal. They lose interest in food and become focused on finding a mate.

I wouldn't say mines more active as he always bombs around doing laps at night!

my female started the same behavoir for the first time last night

once it gets a little colder mine tend to slow down, only coming out to bask, then back into a hide

my 2008 females yellow has all but dissapeared, the yellow got less and less, until it turned into tiny yellow dots on an all black scale

Your females a younger sister of mine isn't she ? All my females lost their yellow at about 3 years of age , but strangely the males retained theirs . Although not as intense . Mine are all still in feeding mode , so going to keep them going as my females put her weight back on and I'm going to see if she produces again next year , which normally they don't due to weight loss etc . A short winter for mine , lucky buggers ! Wish it was for me !!!
