I need some tips on opening my boa's gob. i have to administer anitbiotics, which i have been doing with out to much fuss as it's in a small syringe but as a result of the antibiotics the snake has become dehydrated and i have to give her meds in a large 10ml syringe and she just dosnt want it in her mouth and wont open up. Can anyone help??
if it's a big un then use snake probes or ssomething similar if you have them, just watch the teeth, thin cardboard can do well, as can a credit card if you're careful.
She's 7ft not sure of age. thanks for advice will try a credit card when she next has her meds. im very wary of damaging her teeth (and about her damaging me with her teeth lol) luckely she's a very good temperd snake.
I am giving antibiotics to my 9ft bci at the moment. I have found that using a flexible catheter attached to the syringe is the best way, as you don't have to open her mouth. Also, you can put it far enough down to not have the medication pour out of the side of her mouth.
Your vet should be able to provide you with this, Kat
Chemist should have something or a local non rep vet. I put it about about 4 inches in as mine has very big head and the drug doesn't spill back out of side of her mouth then, Kat
great sulution. its amazing the things you learn on this forum that can be kept for future reference. i would never put a credit card near a female though, she would probably have it maxed by the time you took it back.:lol2:
