How long have you had them and how deep is your substrate?

Do you have a hygrometer?
If so what does it say?

As for mites I believe you'll have to completely replace all your substrate and give the viv a thorough scrub.
With the new substrate I think most people bake it first in the oven to kill any nasties.

Good idea on the hygrometer, it'll tell you if the humidity is too high.

How big are your emps?

Don't put nail varnish on the mites!
If you replace the substrate that should get rid of most of the mites and all thats left will be the ones on the scorpions, when my emps got mites (this was like 10yrs ago and the internet wasn't quite the useful resource it is now) i put them in an ICU type idea for a while with just kitchen roll on the floor and that got rid of the mites.
However, that does mean putting the emps in a dry environment... I couldn't find any other way of doing it but someone else might have a better suggestion. My emps were fine afterwards but I'd wait and see what others suggest before rushing into anything.

I often get them from live food that is kept too damp. They like damp places, and get transferred into the viv with the food. As far as I can tell, they have no effect on the scorps them selves.
