Nopes sorry not unless u can get a clear pic of it ventrally but that isnt 100%. The only way to tell really is from a shed.

Head to Arachnoboards - Powered by vBulletin
There's a post in the tarantula area there about sexing pokies from a dorsal view.

I'm afraid to say that your pictures are not up to scratch at all for sexing (it's damn hard to do accurately by photo anyway, but they're very blurry and out of focus). Best thing is to try Arachnoboards there, though sexing isn't too much of an issue (or indeed, possible) until they're older.

Thats untrue Selina..

As Phobia says you can sex Pokies from the dorsal patterning once they are sub/adult..

I haven't tried ventrally sexing and I belive its not that accurate either.

Regards,

Peter.

Ventral has apparently proven incredibly inaccurate if you're referring to the attempts to denote gender by the ventral markings on the legs... Actually, that said, trying to denote gender from an image of the external ventral aspect is always inaccurate.

Dorsal sexing has proven quite accurate by careful examination of the folio, but the best way is still to break out the magnifying glass on your molts!

And read my post. Dorsal sexing is not 100% accurate. The only sexing method that is is examination of the epigastric furrow on an exuvium.

How big where they then?
Also I know little about Poecilotheria Smithi's but perhaps just that sp is hard to correctly identify from dorsal patterns.

All males of a few different species of pokies I have seen personally always look different, especially in colour also..

Peter.

Aye, P.regalis especially I've found is nigh on 100% accurate from dorsal sexing. I know little about P.smithi, so cannot comment.

Yeah thats what I'm saying theres a noticable difference between sub/adult male and females..

In the same situation with the Smithi I know little about them tbh.

Peter.
