Default Heating

I have four tanks on a shelving unit but due its design I cannot put a large heat mate the length of the shelf to heat them so I use four small heat mats.

Can I plug a chocolate block into a thermostat so that it runs all four mats or do I need a seperate stat for each tank?

Over the winter months the temps have been spot on with no stat but with warmer weather coming I dont want them to cook.

I use to use one stat for 3 mats when I had a fair few leopard geckos. As long as you don't go above the said amount of watts.

So if all four mats where 10 watts and the stat can handle 50 watts I'm good to go?

Ive run them like this before...

Make sure though that the tank the probe is in is representative of all the tanks. Im sure its obvious but just incase; if the stat probe is in a much larger tank than the others, the main tank will be fine but the others will fry gently... Im sure thats obvious but when your multi-wiring heat matts it pays to be cautious

If all tanks are same size then put the probe into one of the central ones as these will be slightly warmer. As long as you do not exceed the wattage it shoiuld be fine. I have 3 corns in rubs running off same stat as it a 100 watt one and have had no problems so far.
