Default Giant mantid in china?

I'm stupidly obsessed with mantids currently, and during a meeting my team leader got me on the subject discussing what species I had, she then mentioned when she lived in china she had a mantid about 10-15cm long sat on her telephone receiver one day.
Obviously set me off on my mission to find this species of mantis and if available to the pet trade I want one
I originally thought Hierodula membrancea, but I'm not sure now.
Any ideas would be awesome

Ischnomantis gigas is the longest
Rhombodera laticollis is the thickest

You should be able to find someone here who can help with eggs and care-

I like the look of Ischnomantis gigas but the first search result on google that's english, is ironically this forum thread!

Your first thoughts were probably correct and your friend saw a wild Hierodula membrancea. Their usefulness as natural pest control and superstition means it would be able to live for quite a long time. As you know they can grow to about 10cm and time has a habit of exaggerating what we remember.
Ischnomantis gigas is not commercially available (this is one time I would like someone to jump in and say I am wrong and they have several for sale.)
If you advertised on a specialist forum you might get a bug hunter from Africa or a fellow collector offering to post some eggs or you could try asking at somewhere like http://www.metamorphosis.gb.com/index.html (other online shops are available).
If your search isn't working try the links.
