Although I'm tempted to say all of the above I think I'm gonna have to go with addiction.

I hate using the word collection when it's referring to animals, to me you collect objects not animals lol, mine are all much loved pets and all have names though am struggling to think of them lol.

I voted for both. They are of course pets by definition. They are however the perfect collectible pet. They are relatively undemanding, require little space and come in so many varieties.

To many we could be considered hoarders. In the past I've sat watching Discovery, shaking my head as some nutty cow is having dozens of her cats removed by the animal cops, only to remember I have at least as many T's in the next room.

An addictive, sometimes expensive mixture of both.

Mine started out as a collection (when I had 20 or so spiders) but then dwindled down to just my favourites which I think fit better under the 'pet' category.

I guess they require food and a care so by definition are pets but I don't have any emotional attachment to my inverts so in the regulars I guess I just collect them.

My geckos are classed as my pets and my dog is my baby and soul mate haha

Collection to me. How many people would dream of mating their 'pets' if the female was more than likely going to kill and eat her mate?
