  1. Snakes
I've always known that most snakes will clear up before a molt after eyes blue and body dulls. However I was wondering if anyone here knows the science behind why/how this happens. It would seem the eyes would turn even more cloudy the looser the scale gets from the eye. Same with the body.

They have to grow right? Otherwise their eyes would be really really tiny... but how would their eyes grow? That doesn't make any sense to me, people eyes don't grow (but then again, most people aren't reptiles) :( Someone go stick a ruler next to their snakes' faces, this is annoying me...

Had a female ball python for about 3 months or so now, had no problems so far. But she's got patches on the top of her head (at least i think they're patches), she's had them since I first got her so I'm just being safe. Here's a pic: Snakes head patches Pictures, Snakes head patches Images...

This was the first of three crested geckos we purchased a few years back, and she is still looking just as fantastic today as when we first got her. Other news a few of my photos have made it through to the final round of 'The Reptile Reports' 2014 awards, please if you like my photos take...
  5. Shelled - Turtles & Tortoise
I have 2 baby horsefield tortoises which are about 5 months old. As can be seen on the photo the tortoise on the left has his eyes fully open, but the one on the right only has a tiny bit of an eye visable. The tortoise on the right doesn't seem to see very well which causes him a problem...

I've had my Russian for around 3 weeks now, and recently he's been getting bubbles (almost like foam) around his eyes, and he rubs his eyes quite a bit, but then it'll disappear. This usually happens when he wakes up or when he eats. His eyes also look quite swollen when the bubbles appear but...

Hello all, Apologies in advance if this turns out to be a long read, but I'm seeking encouragement / advice... About 2 and a half years ago, we purchased a lovely albino Leopard Gecko and named him Teicho. We bought him a nice 3ft vivarium and over the course of a couple of months we tweaked...
  9. Shelled - Turtles & Tortoise
Noticed this afternoon that our 3 year old (who recently had a clear MOT with vet) was retracting head, scratching face and walking backwards. His eyes were puffy and not opening. We gave him a bath straight away with Reptoboost. Then noticed that while his eyes had opened he looks puffy round...

My girl Kinky has been in shed awhile... I always keep a close eye as when she sheds she needs a bit of help getting it off round her tail where it is kinked. I noticed she has now got this strange white ring around her eyes on both eyes... not the best pic as she is moody! She has been behaving...

Okay, so I got my baby Boa on Friday and she is beautiful, only thing is her eyes are all black. I just wondered if this is normal or if there is something wrong with her, as all the pictures I've seen of Boas they all have slits in their eyes? She seems to be able to see fine out of both eyes...

Hi, I recently (about a month ago) rescued a pair of bearded dragons. The male has been fine (if a bit a grumpy sod) and has been happily re-homed. I still have the female awaiting a new viv with her new owner, I am not sure if these two lived together before as the previous owner was not very...

I'm looking after 5 gerbils while their owners are on holiday and one of the girls has eye problems. They look very inflamed and sore, apparently they have seen the vet about it and the vet has pretty much said to leave it and the gerbil will get on okay despite the problem. I'm assuming some...

Hello, I have just joined the group because my girlfriend and I have a three and a bit year old hermanns tortoise which we have had about 2 months. Tank (the tortoise) has in the last week, stopped opening his eyes and become very lethargic and has not been seen eating very much. We took him to...

Hello, recently i posted these pics talking about the eyes issue of this gecko : The female (mother) is a SHT het Albino (dunno which) and the male (father) is a Bell Albino. But i know that mixing different Albino together's not "good" (leading to nothing i guess) so since that baby ends to...
