So i have done a lot of reading about culturing fruit flies and have now tried with a vareity of success but something is going wrong.
I set up 8 cultures, 2 with just ready brek and water, 2 with ready brek, orange juice, brewers yeast and 2 with ready brek and repashy superfly and then 2...
hi i have just orderd a fruit fly culture from northampton reptile centre and i have a few questions:
1. do i need to do anything to make them breed or do they get on with it themselves? or do i not even have to make them breed?
2. do i just feed them fresh fruit and veg like crickets?
I can currently offer a pretty good deal on the 32oz plastic cups complete with ventilated lids.

Heya, I got myself a tub of fruit flies Saturday for my Mantis (Creobroter gemmatus) & gotta say I'm kinda confused, I've never used these before.
I've only managed to find 6 live flies in there so far (which I've put in the Mantis's enclosure with twezers).
The shop said they've not all hatched...
Drosophila hydei flightless fruit fly, 3mm body size (not including wings).
Callosobruchus maculatus bean weevil, adult body size 5mm

I think I can speak for everyone when I say that mites drive us mad , I'm ordering in a few cultures and I'm wondering if you can give me a good recipe for the perfect fruit fly medium.
Also does anyone know a good outdoor setup for trapping moths?
would be really helpful for when my Idolomantis...
