  1. Snakes
Hi Peeps, I have a 3yr old corn snake, which we are moving to a new 3ft viv - Terapod 36" Black Pro Vivarium In the previous, smaller viv we've just used a heat mat, but I've been reading up about using the heat mat at one end and a basking lamp at the other (on a timer). I've been going...
  2. Snakes
Hello, I hope this is OK to post! (I'm new...) I've never owned snakes before but I'm really interested in owning ball pythons. I've only ever kept lizards. I'm in the early stages of researching their care ect. but I'd love some advice on whether the vivarium I already own is suitable. I...

I bought a 40w red light for my 10 gallon tank, but that never reached 80-85 degrees (which is what my corn snake should have), so then I bought a light with a dimmer and a 60w ceramic bulb and that made the tank even colder. Now I have both lamps going, but they still aren't heating the tank up...

  5. Habitat
Hi all, I'm having issues with my viv set up. I recently moved house (on sunday), and since the move there seems to be an issue with temperatures in the vivarium. The thermostat appears to struggle to keep the temp up and often hovers around the 28*C/29*C marks on hot end (should be 32*C), and...

I recently purchased a complete vivarium for a bearded dragon with the following heating/lighting setup: 1 x UV strip light (rear) 1 x standard strip light (front) 1 x heat lamp (roof mounted-external) The heat lamp is behind a grill and its shade is either metal or ceramic so I wondered about...
  10. Newbie Advice
Hi, We've just set up a new viv for a young bearded dragon. Everything seems to be going ok, he seems to be feeding well, temps ok, 44 on the basking rock and 26/27 at the cool end. So far so good. I read that it is a good idea to get a guard for your heat lamp so that as the lizard gets bigger...
  11. Snakes
I posted this on another forum but nobody has actually answered my question (appreciated as it was, I've only been given suggestions to turn off heating or to use ceramics, but that's not what I was looking for), so I was hoping some of you might have an opinion to share. Heat lamps usually...

Hello there! So, I'm new to the whole Heat Lamp thing, but, how would one stop a CHE from catching fire? I've been told to link it up to a Thermometer, but, me being a little bit thick at times, I don't know how I'd go about this! Haha. Also, the Terrerium for my Tokay will be on a Pine Wood...

I was thinking of getting a bearded dragon soon, do i have to put the heat lamp inside the vivarium as it ruins the vivarium and it takes up a lot of space. i was wondering if there is another way I can install the heat lamp?
