Are the Exo Terra Infrared Thermometer and Exo Terra Digital thermometer reliable? I got the two but heard bad things about them. just want to make sure i got a reliable method in taking temps as i am getting leopard in two weeks. Had no time in setting them up yet.
Just received my IR temp gun I bought for my bearded dragon setup, which I havent got yet, but I tested it around the house pointing it at stuff... seemed to be accurate, it was when I decided to check the temps in my geckos vivarium I was abit worried
Ive always had a microclimate and...
Hi, As per the title are the exo terra thermometer probes waterproof, or at least nominally splash proof?
The reason I ask is because every time I mist my terrarium, I get some crazy readings from one of my thermometers. I'm not just talking a drop by a few degrees as you would expect.
What does everyone else use to stick their thermometers to wooden vivariums? At the moment I'm using blu tack, but it's been bothering me that even though they don't seek it out to eat it it could possibly cause an issue if it was eaten.
If I find anything else out I shall modify what I'm...
Got to recommend the Inkbird temperature and humidity controller to anyone requiring a perfectly balanced climate.
It works for very high/low temperatures or humidities so I guess it can be used for any species, amphibians and eggs strike me as the main beneficiaries but I'm going to be using...
Hi all, at the moment Godzilla's tank has one of those crystal thermometers as it was the only one the reptile store had in stock.
They said they will have one of the dial ones in soon but I've heard a lot about them being inaccurate and malfunctioning soon after purchase.
I've heard many...
Yesterday I bought the set up for a Crested Gecko Terrarium. I got a care sheet and it says that the recommended heat for a crested Gecko is 75*F -80*F in the hot end and 70*F -75*F in the cool end.
I took out the back drop to the Terrarium and Placed the heat mat on the back of the...
I just bought my first reptile! A beautiful grey and orange crestie. He's still in the shop as I'm going away next week, but I purchased most of the equipment so I can set up before I bring my new baby home. I did a huge amount of research before even visiting the shop, and...
I cleaned out my hognose for the first time since I got him, had him about 3 weeks and a few days, I don't know if that was too soon for a clean but he poos a lot, sometimes more then once a day and I was feeling he needed it.
Well after I cleaned him I had him out for a bit, maybe about 15 -...

Just trying to get a consensus on which thermometers are best to use?
I've always though that the Exo Terra Thermo/Hydrometers are the best, the ones with the dual function, although I don't know how durable they are.
Is it best to go with analogue or digital?
What do you guys use, I have been looking at picking up a combo one that have both humidity and temperature and all of the reptile specific ones are around the £15-20 range.
But when you look on Ebay they have near identical ones for £5 with an accurate precision of 5% humidity which is not bad...
I'm currently setting up a 3ft for my royal and i've got a ceramic on a pulse stat with two digital thermometers at either end and hydro in the middle but I'm not convinced these two thermometers are actually any good/very accurate
I'm setting up the exact same way I've set up...
I was advised to get a exo-terra dial thermometer for each end of the viv. However, I've since heard that these are not very accurate. I don't have a hygrometer at all.
Does anyone have any suggestions for accurate instruments that are cheap to buy?
