I've recently acquired a 4x2x2ft viv but it's homemade and I have no idea what paint has been used - can anyone recommend a treatment or sealant that's safe for dragons?? He's too big for the one he's in now, so need to get the new one up and running as it were :)

Yatch paint
Most varnishes
Tbh your better off using a waterbased varnish. The drying time is hell of a lot quicker which means you can put more coats on in a shorter time, plus you can use it sooner rather then later. Oil based paints really take a couple of weeks to fully cure and that's in a warm room. I would paint it, wait for it to be touch dry then add the heating equipment in and leave it on for 2 weeks. That's a safe way to do it.

I've been using dulux water based varnish lately at work, it's pretty good. Tbh any thing cheap will be good. If you using oil based varnish go for one with a low VOC content.
