For the past week, our royal has been sucking in her stomach,
like she doesn't want it touched.
Now she has weird yellowy brown pockets of water in her underbelly scales.
It has worsened over night and have rung a vet,
but any advice as what to do would be much appreciated.

Help?!

wow...yep, definately Blister Disease...I've seen it a few times now...and had it 2 times on my collection.

One was bought from a ''reputable'' shop with it!!

Get her to the vets asap, as you're arranging :)

In the meantime I'd suggest bathing in luke warm water, with a dash of iodine if you have any...or perhaps dettol etc. To help disinfect the area.

Be prepared for injections to administer to her...

As has been said Miranda made a post on this...check it out.

I heard that I have to keep her dry?
I dont want to bathe her if it's going to make it worse...!
although disinfecting it would be a good idea.

Sorry if this is wrong but I thought dettol was toxic to snakes as it contains phenols/pine stuff?

No your not wrong, DONT use dettol. You need to use somthing like betadine or iodine solution if you need to clean the area of any nastys. But go on the rep vets advice first. Dont do anything you are unsure of without consulting your vet in a situation like this. It will need injections for a while to clear it up. But can be fatal if left untreated especially if the blisters pop.

Eeeepp...sorry yes, I meant savlon...not dettol!

Glad someone is on the ball today... no pun intended.

As far as I am aware you can get savlon in a liquid form...from what I've heard (hence the perhaps)...and have seen it commonly reccommended for use in water to help heal snakes.

Yes...high humidity or dampness in the viv is a main cause of blister disease...BUT bathing the wound/snake helps to maintain cleanliness around the affected area.

Thanks for all your advice =)
I just hope the vet can sort her out in time.
I think I'll give her a quick bath, just to clean her.
I've taken her water bowl out for today so there's no dampness.

Thanks again : victory:

What are the humidity levels across the viv the snake is in?
Or rather, what were they when this started to develop?
