Write here goes I'm sure my bd has tail rot.

I've had him 3 wks saturday coming and I'm just a bit worried about his tail.

When I got him his tail was a bit darker then the rest of his body, I just thought it was his marking as I'd never came across it before when I looked up on them before I got him.(I reserched that much that my head feels like its gonna explode)

Well anyway he's been shedding his skin so I gave him a bath to help it on. went back on the net for some advice and came across tail rot, It sounded very familiar to franks tail.

Half way down his tail as gone dark and I looked underneath his tail n the same is there darker then the rest.

As anyone got any photo's to give me a clue of what I'm looking for.

I went to my local live food store and they rang a specialist and he said to take him back because when it's happened once it will happen again or get the person to pay for the care to get it right again.

But the problem is I've grow very attached to him and couldn't stand the thought of giving him up.

Thanks

If in doubt i would take him to a herp vet to be on the safe side. Also could you post any pictures as someone may be able to tell what they think it is.

Hiya Mate,

First thing i would do is keep him on kitchen roll, Reptile subtrates can make the "Infection/tail rot" worse especially sand.

That photo link did'nt work?? Like the others said, We really need to see a picture before we can really help.

But i do agree with one thing, he really needs a herp vet to see him asap or it might spread further up and then your beardie will end up in a life threathening state. I would also phone the people you got him from and ask for help towards his vet bills as he had this problem before you got him. So they must except some respondsibility. Or they could get nasty and tell you to politely sod off.

Getting back to the subject.....

*Post a pic!
* make an appointment with a herp vet
* contact previous owners.

Hi all,

Just to say a big thank u for all your help.
I think its been a big false alarm he's finished his shed on his tail now and it looks completly fine.

But to still be on the safe side I've booked him in to the vets for friday.
I'm just a worrier :!:

And I've moved him onto kitchen roll for the time being until I no for sure that everythings fine.

Once againThank u all.

Phew, That's good news! At least the vet will give him a good looking over to make sure there's nothing else wrong which would be good to know.
