Can you start your own skinny pig pedigree

Maybe I'm being dumb but i was under the impression that the only reason they have a pedigree is so u know who the parents and grandparents and stuff are so as to avoid inbreeding so if I'm correct and u no all this I'm sure u can supply pedigree papers ? Although I could be massively wrong
