Hey i have a bulb in my leos viv but its only getting 2 86 as its cold outside but i cat get a higher watt reptile bulb until next week can i use a normal house bulb for now?? Obviously controlled by thermostat

I use always use a standard bulb to maintain the ambient air temp and during the colder months use a standard coloured bulb during the night. Both are controlled by a dimmer stat.

I'm guessing that you do also use a heatmat as well.

I only ever use a normal household reflector spot bulb (100w in a 4x2x2 viv). There is no difference, unless you are use the fancy bulbs that emit UV too

you MIGHT find the heat given out varies slightly...as it on ocasion does from brand to brand and depending on whether they have silver reflective or not but all are ok.
1 40watt bulb id have thought would have done for a leo viv though but i guess it is gettin colder.

i use... a 60 what low energy one in the summer, winter i useee...
a 60 watt normal one.

its a 25 watt as it was boiling in my house now its friggin freezing so its only 86-87 i prefer it at about 90 i guess ill take a bulb down from my light haha how do i know if its the right one or can they all be used? and what is a reflector

if you have a 25 watt bulb IT IS PROLLY a SES [small edison screw] fitting.

in which case you need to get a ses 40watt bulb.
rep brands dont generally coem in ses anyway, just es [edison screw]

Before that i had a 40w in the shape of a house bulb they both fit this ones is like a long one the one ill be putting in is just a normal it fits though i think

got yuh, the exo terra long shaped 25 watt bulbs are edison screw so they will fit with any standard reflector bulb that says edison screw [es] on them so thats easy for you.

yes household bulbs are fine thats all i use but i do use the spot type so the heat radiates downwards....
