Welcome to our new animal stock list. As always, there are additions and deletions as stock comes and goes. We usually manage to replace most species as they sell, but if you don’t see what you require keep popping back for a look.

Lots of nice animals in the last few weeks, unfortunately things have been moving fast and some have sold out before hitting the list. In this update we can offer you a vast array of Kings and Milks, some very rarely available in this country. Also an expanded list of Leopard gecko colour morphs, these are getting very popular in this country now. Both the Kings/Milks and the Leopard geckos are produced by are breeding friends in the US. We have some truly gorgeous new pythons to add to the list including Black White Lips. The usual additions to everything else, including some Caecilians, Mud Puppys, Glossy snakes, Blue Mountain Horned Dragons and several spider species.

These are the animals we had in stock in our shop in Darlington on the current date. Please remember we only sell animals (apart from inverts and spiders) to customers that can collect from the shop, we do not sell animals on the net, nor by any form of mail order. We care about the animals we sell and worry too much about their welfare to do this! Please visit this page often - we endeavour to update frequently. If you have a specific wants list contact us and we will do our best for you. Although this list is compiled with care and vast herpetological experience we accept that mistakes and errors can happen. We welcome any suggestions.

We would like to bring the following point to your attention:1. Colour morphs in Corn snakes has now got to a level, way beyond what could have been comprehended a few years ago. Presently there are nearly 200 colour / pattern variations (maybe more when combined!) and, as the majority are man-made they are very subjective. Some of the differences are also very small. What one person describes as a particular colour morph, another person will see something very different. Also, many Corn snake hatchlings look so radically different to when they are adult it is impossible to judge what they will look like later in life. For this reason we only describe the different morphs to the best of our ability and suggest that you firstly visit to make sure that you are buying what you require, and secondly keep in mind that when he/she grows up there may be some variation from the “perfect” example banded around on the various internet sites and in books.

Can you pleasse clarify what your western hognoses are? H.n. gloydi is no longer considered to be a valid subspecies. Are these "dusty phase" H.n. nasicus then? Or just normal H. n. nasicus incorrectly labelled?

Not trying to be awkward just genuinely interested!

Thanks Anthony, oddly enough I was looking at that earlier this afternoon, because they are not terribly far from where I live. That's exactly what I wanted, but I had hopes I'd find a breeder willing to take less for them, rather than paying shop prices which are very steep.

Maybe the day I find one exactly at the right colouration and price I'm prepared to pay, I might have lost interest. It happened to me with Irian Jayas, I strived so much to get one and could not find, then I bought a pair of boas, and the next day I started getting loads of offers for Irian Jayas

Hi Max, if it's not a red blood, it seems over priced. And in regards to your Hogg Island Boa, if it's a pure hogg, it's too cheap

Thats a rarity, accused of being too expensive and too cheap in one post! The Hogg Isles are bred from adults that originated from Chris Mattison stock, and the adults are on display at Coast to Coast. They have been kept pure by me, and as no-one had thought of cross breeding them in the era that I bought them the babies and adults they are produced from are as pure as pure can be. Incidently I reduced the prices of the Hoggs some time ago as we produce so many they were hanging around a tad. Maybe you are right - its time they went back up in price!

Oh, I have just noticed the Hognose post - within the hobby we often keep non-valid sub-species alive just as a way of refering to them. Yes indeed it is the form known as a Dusky - hope that clarifies.

Sandi, I didn't say Max didn't Know his stuff, and I know it's none of my business, as well as it's none of yours to criticise my comment. And visiting his shop would not make me change my views

Max, I appreciate your time in replying abou the Hoggs, and it's pretty justified that one who has plenty of a certain species to bring the price down in order to open room, etc. I have a pair of hoggs, and I've been looking for red blood pythons for over a year, and so far I was never lucky to find one by where I live, or the one I found was way too expensive.

My comments were purely because having been to classifieds on a daily basis for month, and having seen so many ads for bloods, one starts knowing a bit how much they go for.

Recently in this forum there was a person offering a triped blood which was quite unique and stunning for £ 130.00. The reason I didn't go for it is simply because I've got my mind set on a red one, hence my enquiry to see a picture before you came back with the statement it was not a red one.

So, in all honesty, I think you can charge whatever you feel your blood is worth, and I appreciate shop prices tend to be higher because of the quality and running costs.

All I was trying to say is that if I had had a chance to buy a pure hogg before I go mine for £ 100.00 I would jump at it because it's very well priced, and in the same way, I'd never pay more than £ 150.00 for a blood which is not red because having seen hundreds of adverts in past months, I doubt I'd be able to sell it again for the same amount.

Hi Dexter

Don't worry I don't take offence easily! Hope you find the Blood you are looking for, if I come across any that sound the right price and right "redness" I'll pm you.

Take care.

I've seen that one, and talked to Oli about it. He's reduced the price now, but it's not red, even thought it's a gorgeous chunky snake.

Do we now? I certainly dont... I like to have things correctly labelled, but each to their own.

Dexter - PM snakesalive on here, he may have some red bloods left. He had a really deep red one for sale when I was last there...

As for the Hoggs I think £100 is reasonable enough, there were some available for £45 each round here this year and they were pure as pure can be having originated from zoo stock. As always it pays to shop around before you buy...

Thanks mate, just pm'd him.

As for the hoggs, it's hard to believe. The day I find a pur hogg going for £ 45.00 will be the day I see a graziani piebald going for £ 500.00 in the same advert

I know I paid more for mine because I paid shop prices, but you seldom see a common boa going this cheap, why would you find a snake that is extinct in wild and much rarer for such a cheap price :?:

I intend to breed mine in the future, and surely they won't go for less than £ 120.00 each, even if I need to keep the lot :D And if I had a shop, I'm sure they would fetch more than £ 150.00 each.

Shop prices are always more than classified ads and always will be. I think all animals should be priced at what they are worth and not sold as cheap as possible if some of the breeders worked out how much electricity they use and food costs and then an hourly wage for themselves for looking after them until sale they would find out that they sell them too cheap. This is how some people who have no knowledge at all end up with animals that die or are not looked after properly if you were going to pay full price in a shop for a snake then it's most likely that you can afford to buy a half decent book before the animal and give yourself a clue.I know that vmax's stuff is worth what it's priced at, after all you only get what you pay for unless you are really lucky.
