Right,

So I've set up an exo terra with a drainage layer separated with mesh and on top of that got a mix of substrate, I build a tube going to the drainage layer from behind my GG background; using one of those air lines for aquariums, now the issue is, I can't get a syphon to start, I have a feeling that it might be because there's not enough depth, ie there's only like two odd inches. what will be the best way to deal with this? Should I get one of those syphon starters? Or is there going to have to be a compromise?

Regards,

Rhys

I bought the largest syringe I could find, they have a 160ml on flebay, you can fit a tube to it and draw the excess water from your drainage layer. I usually water the plants with it. That's all I do, It don't take long to do, but then I have only ever had about 30mm of water in our 18" x 18".
