one of our 2 female leos has just started nipping the other one over the mealies. We just had them out and put the mealies in and they typically both went straight to the mealie bowl. Do you think it is likely to be a fight over the mealies or over something else? The one biting (storm) we moved away from the other (roobarb) and she stayed in a tube for a while but came back to the mealies when roobarb came back and started nipping roobarb again. Storm has only nipped roobarb twice. Do you think this is anything to worry about??

they seem to have stopped for a bit, do you think we should see what happens for a day or two. We do have a viv that we can move one of them into if we have to. Do you think it was over the mealies or something else???

all mine (26 or so ish...) are seperate bar 2 pairs, this is beacuse i have had fighting, even with same sex females, big tank two bowls lots of hiding space etc etc...
you could seperate them before anythgin serious happens.

We have been told that they are female by specialists, so we presume they are. They are with a male in their viv. They are 5 months old. We got roobarb and custard (the male) about a week before storm, but they were the same age so we were told it would be ok. We have had storm since the 17th of July so wouldnt she have started fighting with roobarb earlier than this?

I'm wondering if it could be a dominance thing, there is always a pecking order in any pack ... may be this is what you are seeing.
I'm new to Leo's but as with some other animals you could possible try taking the more assertive one out for a while and then put her back in a week later to put her down the bottom of the pack for a while. Maybe this may sort things out.

Or maybe have two mealie pots

As said, I am new to Leo's and I am sure others will give you better advice than me.
Hope everything goes ok for them. :2thumb:

they appear to have stopped, custard has now gone into the shedding moss with roobarb and storm has gone off on her own to the back. They just all seem to have gone away from the mealies. I think im going to watch them for a while, but leave them together. I dont want anything bad to happen, but i also dont want to split them up unless i have to. Thankyou for your help, i'll ask again if anything else happens!

good point, ok, do you think it is a good idea to try putting another mealie bowl in for tonight, cos they dont really seem to be fighting at the moment. Roobarb is shedding atm, i dont suppose that could have anything to do with it, could it???

making excuses for them will only make the situation worse over time... you have a spare viv so i recommend using it and getting another set up for your other female to reduce the risk of breeding too soon... males become sexually mature much younger than females x

I had exactly the same thing but not over food, my two females just started fighting after being together for 7 months, I had to separate them. But you could try separating them for a bit then putting them together to see how they are again, I tried this and after a few hours they started fighting again so they are in separate vivs now.

They are now curle up together asleep in the shedding box??? I think we ar egoignt o leave them for tonight, but checking on them, as my brother has practically become nocturnal and then my parents get up at about 6 or half 6. So were gonna leave them for tonihgt, and ask the pet shop where we got them from what they are on, as we were told they wouldnt fihgt. Thankyou all very much for all your help :notworthy:

maybe pics would help?

btw OP people say female leos get on, just liek human girls should get on, its not always the case, you always get the odd b*tchy one...

these two had lived togetehr for 2 years fine , then one day... the aattatcked eachother now matilda has neuro problems

these three now nearly 2 years olf, lived togteher fine until ones day two of them had huge bite marks all over them, the offender was seperated

she lost an eye

and he nearly lost his tail

now these are just 7 of mine...

and ist not just the fighting, 5 months old is too young, its like a child having babies, they can become ill, become eggbound, and die...

leo very nearly died beacuse of breeding to young

im telling the truth, thats all.

Storm is bigger than roobarb by quite a bit, we were told that this is because she is a blizzard. Is it true that blizzards are bigger than other morphs or is that just crap, we'll try and get some pictures on
