I've had my male beardie now about 6 months and really want get a female keep him company,
The problem is i was toldat the shop i need get a female of the same size of bigger, is this correct ?
If so how come there's always loads of large males for sale but never any females ?

Hiya Mate,

Your want a female that is roughly the same size and age if possible. Also one thing to remember is that larger females can get nasty too with a smaller male as i have found out with one of my pairs. But after a while things have calm down and he's showing her who's boss!.

Unfortunately, Females are very hard to come by out there, Most are kept for breeding, others are peoples beloved pets and pet shops will also keep females for there own breeding profit.

The best way to go about it is to check out all the forums classifieds and also these to sites are great!

I found my female on preloved. But also one thing to consider! There is zero percent chance your find one local, So can you travel??

It took me 8 months to find a suitable female for my male. So good luck & maybe place a wanted ads in the classifieds too!

Hi Jimbob,

If you can make it to Manchester then my local reptile specialist Viper & Vine have loads of female beardies for sale @ £125.00 each.

They are very healthy specimens as well.
