Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice. My male leo has lost an extreme amount of weight in about a week. He's 2 years old and has been eating and pooping normally but has lost all of his fat reserves and his tail is really thin. We took him to the vet and his tests showed no parasites or worms and the vet said there was no signs of impaction. The vet give him worming treatment as a precaution and told us to feed him liquid food but he has now lost all interest in food both liquid and live. He seems really lively and alert so I don't think he's stressed. Does anyone have any ideas?!
*nods* if the leo has suddenly drastically lost weight in a short time and usual parasites, worms, impaction etc have been ruled out I would be looking to testing for crypto as another possibility
come across this problem and am no expert but as a lot of people know mbd is a bone disease due to lack of calcium. there has been a thread posted recently which is really informative about the condition which may help. cant say for sure what the problem is but this is how one of mine went 2 years ago and was told by a very good specialist vet that it was mbd. look out for bowing legs, arched back, protruding spine, etc but definately read the post about mbd, do u dust the live foods with a mixture of nutribal and calcium powder. another good idea is a small lid of calcium powder in viv so they can freely help themselves
