Hello,
Have just been to our local shop and they had Royal Python's, so was enquiring a bit about them.
Have been told that they grow 5 feet in length, and that they need approx a 4foot wide viv.
Just wondering, what snakes grow approx the same size (no bigger) and either prefer or can go in a tall viv rather than a wide one?

Just enquiring at the minute, but may possibly extend my family yet again.

Thank you in advance

A 4ft Royal can easily go in an 84l Really Useful Box, and the dimensions are approx 64cm x 48cm x 36cm (LxWxH). Basically, you need 1 foot square of viv space for each foot of snake. So if you have a 4ft snake you could have 2ft x 2ft floor space, they should have at least 1ft in hight.
So a 4ft length viv isn't actually neccessary.
There are quite a few snakes that need tall vivs that stay small, some aren't particularly great if you're not experienced like Green Tree Pythons (Morelia viridis) which get to 1.5m and Amazon Tree Boas (Corallus enhydris) who get to around 1.8m and need a tall, planted vivarium.
Green snakes (Opheodrys sp) are great arboreal pets but they can be difficult to get CB in the UK.
Hope this helps, and glad to see another member from South Wales :D
