hmmmm :hmm:

i've mentioned my angry young corn Hannibal. i can see i'm gonna have more fun with him than i thought .

just been to clean his water out and he tagged me 3 times before i could get hold of the dish. :2thumb: still scarey even for a little corn.

anyway, i decided he wasn't gonna scare me that easily so i took him out of the cage and he was all hissy and moody. he then proceeded to spit at me whilst striking, all over my hand !!! :censor::cussing:

it was a clear, cold liquid and quite a bit too ! at first i thought it was coming from the other end but no, he did it again and its deffo from his mouth.

i've never heard of this before. is it normal for a corn to do this ? i assume its some kind of self defence reaction :?:

Had it just been drinking from the bowl before you changed the water?

Mite have just been a hiss and he chucked out some left over water.

odd indeed and the worse is yet to come. he shed today but only from the head down to middle of his body.

i just know he's not going to get rid of the rest on his own. he's doing it on purpose  just so i'll have to help him. yeah right

Corns shouldn't spit. Sounds like it could have a respiratory infection.

Open up the mouth and check for mucous/snot.

Either that or as above it may have just been drinking.

i don't know mate, i suppose he could have done but i certainly didn't see it but its a good call :notworthy:.

it was certainly as clear as water but perhaps a touch thicker.

Chances are if it was water it would have been a bit thicker after its been in his mouth mixing with his spit and what not.

If i was you i would make sure you check his mouth though
as said above.
It could be a serious problem.

well, short of that, a highly motivated rat snake will hiss and bite at the same time and blowing out some slobber in common. it means it's really wound up! remember every snake is different. some have very strong feeding responses and some have really strong defensive behavior. nature doesn't make clones. genetic variety keeps species from going extinct. you can't pigeon hole any animal. but i haven't seen the snake. if it has a R.I., yep, that could cause it to look like it spit too!

im going for the water theory. no sign of RI. i've dealt with that before with my boa. this is nothing like it.

ah well. i'll look forward to helping him remove the remainder of his shed tomorrow :rotfl:

just try a pissed off gopher snake or bull snake

Corns are gentle in comparison
