WHY, the hell out of my 3 vivs, the standard light fitments are all bayonet, yet all the decent heat emmiters and bulbs use screw.
absolutely rediculous, why do i have to change what SHOULd already be avalable.
I dont want to buy a viv then have to change the bulb fittment as well.
Its rediculous.
I dont buy a car fitted with AA batteries, to have to install a proper battery...

From what iv been told by two suppliers, they dont make heat emmiters in bayonet..

sorry, rant over...
just seriously miffed about this right now, i HAVE to buy 3 more fitments now, as well as everything else:/
Why cant they simply make bloody sense!!!

Although i havent looked yet, i bet the standard mounts dont fit, and viv fitments are more expensive than a standard one! FFs
so stupid...grrr lol

Know how you feel, its a pain in the neck. Half the specialist reptile bulbs seem to be screw in, but you can only get cheaper bayonet holders from DIY places (well thats what ive found anyway), so you end of having to buy the £5 a piece screw in holders from reptile suppliers.

My local pet/reptile store sells converters for that price and no postage, local electrical store sells them even cheaper.Do not be tempted to buy any from malaysia on ebay, they are very cheap,I have tried them and they melted very quickley within 45mins with a 60w bulb. The ones recommended are fine though I have been using them for ages.

even when you use them as a spot light in the viv and it blows its hard trying to find many place's that stock BC bulbs.

All the reptile based light bulbs are made in the EU, none are manufactured in the UK as far as I'm aware - light fittings in the EU are screw, not bayonet. Most vivs are manufactured in the UK, where we use bayonet, not screw. Just one of those annoying things! You can buy ceramic screw fittings from places like Maplins etc. and just fit your own. We sell converters but they only take up to 100W so the ceramic fittings are better if using large or ceramic bulbs.
