I have a juvenile western (and was told it's a male), how do I make sure it is male at such a young age? He/it is an 07. I would like to find an 07 of the opposite sex to grow them up seperately. Is it okay to probe at this stage?, or are there external/any other ways of telling?

Best to have him/her probed.

Male have longer tails than females - around 25% longer. Trouble is, you need a similar size female to compare him to...

Tail length won't be hugely accurate without reference as you say.
I have a yearling who's tail is longer than that of my adult male.

it maybe..next year.

I think it's really difficult to checking sex with the age.

Adult Hoggy looks different between males and females i think...

My 3yr male southen hoggy got some fat and long tail.
My 3yr female albino western hoggy got short tail.
