im just always wondered what are the holes on the top jaw of pythons?? is it for show or for a reason??

as they are basicly nocturnal, the heat pits enables them to see in a thearmal image, image so to speak. like what the cops use in the helicopers at night.

so for exarmple, a rat, mouse or in this case a zebra shows up brightly coloured, also let them see fresh trails going into a barrow.
