Isn't a cubic foot 12" x 12" x 12"? So if this is 1 gallon, how can a 30 x 12 x 12 be 20 gallon? It would be 2 and a half?

My head hurts.

So what was the answer? Is a cubic foot 10 gallons or something? Or have I got my definition of a cubic foot wrong? School was sooo long ago...

To clarify, since we've gone into advanced mathematics, gone off on several tangents and come back via who knows where....

If you want a 20-30 gallon tank, you are looking at a 2 to 3 foot tank.
The most 'common' sizes I saw when originally looking for a viv were:

2foot ------- 2ft x 18" x 18"

3foot ------- 3ft x 18" x 18"

There is no way a cubic foot is a gallon. A cubic foot is 6 gallons.

There are 4.5 litres in a gallon.

1 litre is a 10cm x 10cm x 10cm cube. 1 ml (millilitre) is 1 cubic centimetre.

So a gallon is around a 16.5 cm cube full of water.
Or 6.5 inch cube full of water.

Just imagine a normal bucket holds around 2 gallons of water when full to get an idea.

i would go get a 3 foot tank, there about 40quid, something like 3 foot x 18" x 15" woulds be about 35 gallon and be ideal, i think

I'm afraid I can'r really simplify much more than I have done.

You either know the maths or you dont.

Just say a 12" x 12" x 12" cube tank holds 6 gallons.

Work from that.
