im thinking of buying the exo terra dial thermometer for the basking area when i setup my tank for my musks

is it any good?

and if it reads too hot do i just move the basking light further away from the dock till it reads 34c on the thermometer??

If it reads too hot, then yes you move the basking lamp a bit further, or you can use a lower wattage bulb.

The dial thermometers aren't particularly accurate though, I would recommend a digital one. Try eBay, they often have them for excellent prices, you don't need a specific reptile-branded one ;)

You can get a regular aquarium thermometer for the water, but I would get a digital for measuring your basking temps :)
