Right I will be getting a leopard gecko pretty soon and I will be housing her in a wood viv, with sliding glass doors, Ive been looking for some good substrate and whilst I was in my loft I found loads of laminated floor planks which must be the left over from when I did my living room floor years ago. Its around 8mm thick, would this be ok to use and will it heat up nicely? Cheers.

If its a plasticky water tight surface like lino coated wood...should be ideal! as long as it allowas the heat to pass through and its not like putting the heat mat between two bits of wood it should still allow good heat exchange...picturesd?

Cant work out how to stick photos on so ive stuck them in my profile albums, it looks like its wood with laminated coating over it, ive tried to show it in the side photo.

laminate flooring will be fine. it's not very thick so won't stop the heat coming through.

you could also try stone or slate tiles if you prefer the look of them
