Hi i was just cleaning out my crix keeper and i found some little black worms in some old food. Any idea what these are should i throw them away or keep feedin them, ????

i get black worms and bugs in my bulk bags all the time, i just chuck them out they are no good for your rep or the crickets...

Their a bran bettle larva... and perfectrly fine for reptiles that will eat them.... I asked a producer at one stage lol

are those the things that look like catapillas?
if so i get hundreds of the thigs i just throw them away

Arent they the caterpillar form of a buffalo beetle?

Take great care with those little buggers.

If your rep has a small graze or cut, they will latch on to it and start feeding.

I found two feeding on the tail of a leo once, and she didnt have any signs of a cut or graze.

My advice is avoide them going in your viv at all cost.

they dont even get a chance to move when i put them in. there gone straight away but ill avoid them in future. cheers for the advice

The fuzzy caterpillars are the larvae of the Larder Beetle, they are a pest species that feed on the dead crickets in the cricket farms. You will also occasionally find Buffalo worms or mini mealworms in the bran that are just escapees.
