Hello

I am planning on getting a Leopard Gecko tomorrow! I already have the tank setup with slate tiles using a heat mat with Komodo Thermostat 100W. Before I go off and buy the Leopard Gecko, I want to be sure that I am maintaining the correct temperature on the warm side of my tank.

I currently have the thermostat probe on top of slate partially hidden by the Gecko cave. I also have a digital thermometer with the probe next to the thermostat one so I can monitor the temperature. I have set the thermostat dial to 31C, 88F.

I have been running it today and when it reaches 89FF the thermostat switches off and does not switch back on until 83FF and then repeats. Is this normal and ok for my Gecko?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hiya,

That's normal and fine, though personally I would bump it up a touch to 32/33c....

Good luck with the new arrival !

on-off stats do have a bigger temp range than other stats, thats why they are cheap. they are the budget basic. I don't know about geckos so don't know if you will need an additional heat source aswell.
