Rio Is now on day 21 hunger strike, and I worry she not getting another water.

Back ground

She shed on the 6th, and produce a strange poo, witch was said here to be moss and another forum undigested shed, Moss was removed and replaced with paper towel.

I had her out 3 times to hand feed and not interested even in wax worms, she has a bowel of mealworms in with her 24/7. She did start wandering round and climbing the glass and laying out looking un happy, she was given a warm bath this week and her warm end temp has been upped incase she was constipated from what ever she ate before, not realy helped much she still looks unhappy.

Would like to try her on something differant like hoppers, but the other half has strong feeling about this and she was got on the condition she eats on worm (nothig with legs), I not shore I get this as I have any stick insects.

Couple of pics
Laying out

sulking last night

I now worryed she getting dehydrated as she not eating and not seen her anywhere near her bowl, have tryed dripping water on hte snout but she not interested. I reluctant to handle her much now, as she doesn't like it and this in itself has caused her not to eat.

any suggestion are welcome, just want my little girl happy again.

have you kept a record of her weight?
has she lost any?
is her tail getting thiner?

if you`re unsure make an appointmant to see a reptile specialist vet, and in the meantime, if she`s pooping you can send a sample to pals to get a fecal test, check if she has any parasites that are causing the lack of appetitie.
if she`s not pooping your vet will need to do a wash of her cloaca to get a sample to test.

in the meantime while you`re waiting for the appointment/results from that you can give her a bath in critical care formula or reptoboost to rehydrate her and give her some vitamins

no weight loss. she a good 80g's, she not lost anything off her tail.

and she just shed again after only 20 days.

she not pooping, but I been planning to do a poo test, every time I have the money and start to collect she goes on hunger strike and doesn't poop for a week.:bash:

I always get the wonky animals.

if she`s 80g and hasnt lost any weight i wouldnt be worrying overmuch tbh.

a lot of adults who are at their adult weight eat very little over the winter months and wake their ideas up some the warmer weather.
and adults eat 2 or 3 times a week and maintain theri weight, its juvies that eat everyday.

i wouldnt be force feeding her ( and definatly not babyfood - blended mealies and vits would be a better choice ) because it is stressful to them.

keep an eye on her and if theres any weight loss or runny poo`s get a fecal done.
if she dosnt poop you can get a clocal wash atthe rep vets

thanks

I not overly worryed at the mo, as she shed complety fine last night I ashume if she was dehydrated she wouldn't do this.

She 8 month old so we are thinking maybe she maturing and doesn't feel she want to eat as much.

You can also spray her enclosure or leave a saucer of water in there so she can sit in it or drink from it.

Not really a leo person but as everyone said have you kept check on her weight. As I have royals and they constantly stop eating so I have to watch theirs

We had the same problem with our leo, he was not eating then passed through a peice of moss, although he was younger than yours. we took him to the vet who gave him a vitamin injection, and suggested syringe feeding him vegetable baby food (by taping his nose with the syringe the leo opened wide) we also wernt very keen on this, but tryed it and slowly weaned him off it and onto meal worms. we also found that after the injection he started to drink the droplets from his moist hide, he still wont drink from his bowl but at least he is getting some water. The vet also sugested gently rubing his belly incase of impactation.

If it helps my male leo only eats a few meal worms ever 10-14 days over the winter months.

If he is not loosing weight i really wouldn't pay it to much attention. Also when hand feeding do not handle the leo, just offer food to the leoo in the viv. Handling offers another stress that will likly put him off food.
