I was using tiles but my friend just redid his kitchen floor out with lino and had loads left and gave me it. so i swoped it over today it easy to cut out the size you need and then put it in and easy to clean and looks smart to.
I began on that awful calci-sand substrate but learned how bad it is and have now switched to rapti carpet which looks great and he's happy on (I think)
I use Reptile Carpet with pieces of slate (not tiles) dotted about.
I have a few bits each with a different thickness so they all hold different heat by a degree or two. Zippy seems to move around and lie on different bits of slate depending on whether she has just eaten, woken up, e.t.c. I guess it helps slightly create different temperature zones so she can regulate better.
